LIHU‘E — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife announces an opportunity for interested individuals to assist the division in an animal control of feral goats in Hunting Unit F on Kaua‘i, pursuant to Title 13, Chapter 123, “Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting,” §13-123-9, “Nuisance or crop damage.”

Animal control is being limited to archery due to safety concerns. Interested individuals will need to show a valid hunting license and will be required to sign an animal control permit.

Animal control permits will be available at the Lihu‘e Division of Forestry and Wildlife office at 3060 ‘Eiwa St., Rm. 306 Lihu‘e, HI 96766.

Archery Only Period
Public archery only participation in the control of feral goats will proceed from Feb. 1 through June 29, 2014, on weekends and state holidays. The limit will be two feral goats (either sex) per hunter per day.  Animals may be de-boned in the field. Proper disposal of carcasses is required. Blaze orange will not be required for the archery only season. The ongoing pig hunting season will continue as scheduled.
