MALAEKAHANA STATE RECREATION AREA

HONOLULU —   The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks will reopen the Castle Beach area of the Malaekahana State Recreation Area tomorrow morning.

This park area has been closed since Friday, November 21, 2014, due to tree hazard concerns in the park.  State Parks has implemented tree hazard removal and mitigation.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we took measures to ensure the safety of our park users,” said Dan Quinn, State Parks Administrator.

The remaining portion of the Kahuku section of the park will remain closed while State Parks continues to address tree hazards and implement necessary improvements.
