(Honolulu) – On Sunday, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser will publish a legal notice from the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) announced a public auction of five (5) impounded vessels from the Ala Wai and Keehi Small Boat Harbors on O‘ahu. Bidders must appear in person at the June 28th auction to be held at the DOBOR District Office at 4 Sand Island Access Road beginning at 9 a.m.

(Honolulu) – The vessel, Skye, also known as the Navatech is expected to be lifted from the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor tomorrow. The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) notified the boat’s owner some months ago that he would need to remove his vessel as he was $16,000 in arrears in mooring fees and the Skye had become non-seaworthy and could not leave the state’s largest small boat harbor under its own power.
(Honolulu) – In the coming days and months it’s going to be hard to avoid the phrase, “Mālama Hawai‘i," when flying, staying in a hotel room, watching TV or enjoying the outdoors throughout the Hawaiian Islands. DLNR and the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA) have partnered to launch Mālama Hawai‘i, a comprehensive campaign designed to educate and remind visitors and kama‘āina about being respectful of the islands’ natural resources, protecting wildlife, and staying safe at all times while in Hawai‘i.
(Honolulu) – Today legal notices were printed in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser officially announcing a Requests for Proposals (RFP) to seek qualified and interested parties to lease and redevelop four non-contiguous parcels and limited redevelopment of two moles (the extensions of land piers are attached to) of state-owned fast or filled lands within the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor situated at Waikiki.
(Honolulu) –Access to the Maunalua Bay Boat Ramp will be closed next week from March 25th to March 29th as contractors will be removing the condemned pier. Weather permitting and if the contractor can finish the work earlier, the boat ramp will re-open at that time.
(Wailuku, Maui) – New evidence suggests that some marine predators are being displaced by high human use at the Molokini Marine Life Conservation District (MLCD), which in 2018 attracted more than 360,000 snorkelers and divers. At an information and scoping meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2019 staff from the DLNR, Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), will present details of recent scientific studies and learn about management concerns for Molokini Crater.
(Honolulu) – People who use any of Hawai‘i’s small boat harbors, offshore moorings, landings or wharfs will have a chance to comment on new proposed fees and rules at a series of five public hearings to be held around the state in early March. The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) which manages 16 harbors and other facilities last increased fees for utilities and facility use nearly 25 years ago.
(Honolulu) – Maintenance workers with the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources begin the process today of cleaning up from the weekend’s powerful winter storm. Heavy surf and high winds broke nine vessels away from their off-shore moorings on Maui and Molokai. At the Lahaina Small Boat Harbor on Maui six boats ended up on rocks on the shoreline. Two boats came ashore in Kihei one on Molokai.
(Honolulu) - Personnel from numerous DLNR Divisions continue monitoring the impacts of the major winter storm bearing down on Hawaii. DLNR Chair Suzanne Case and Sam Lemmo administrator of the DLNR Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands spent the day on Oahu’s north shore where there is particular concern about coastal erosion and wave inundation. They watched as the height of coastal waves steadily increased across the day. Case said, “The conditions are impressive but extremely dangerous. We don’t know yet the extent of sand loss on north-facing beaches.”
(Honolulu) – Numerous divisions of the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources are encouraging everyone to stay very aware of a major storm headed toward Hawai‘i that could bring destructive coastal flooding and erosion and high winds.
