With the help of the Legislature and public support, DLNR is able to continue “The Rain Follows the Forest” watershed initiative and increase forest protection throughout the state.
The Governor’s budget proposed in House Bill 1700 requests an additional $3.5 million in general funds and $5 million in capitol improvement project funding for Fiscal Year 2015. The request includes an additional $1 million for invasive species control.
The following are a few of the additional bills that relate to the control of invasive species that affect watersheds:
- SB2343/HB1716 - Appropriates funds to the Hawaii Invasive Species Council for invasive species prevention, control, outreach, research, and planning.
