DOBOR to auction impounded vessel.  BIDS CLOSE January 13, 2022.

Due to safety concerns arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, this public auction shall be conducted by sealed bids only.  All interested bidders shall deliver their bid in-person or via mail to: DOBOR Hawaii District Office, 74-380 Kealakehe Parkway, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740-2704. 

All in-person bids must be delivered prior to 4:00pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022.

All mail-in bids must be postmarked no later than Thursday, January 13, 2022. 

Bids may be delivered any time before these deadlines.

Bids arriving after these deadlines will not be considered.

In order for a bid to be considered, a bidder shall be required to:

  • Fully complete the Sealed Bid Form provided by DOBOR. Sealed Bid Forms with incomplete fields will be rejected, and the bidder will have an opportunity to resubmit so long as resubmission can be accomplished within stated deadlines.  The Sealed Bid Form is attached to this Auction Packet and is also available on the DOBOR website.
  • Enclose their completed Sealed Bid Form in a sealed envelope.
  • Include a written or printed label in an obvious location on the outside of the sealed envelope stating “Vessel Auction Sealed Bid” so that staff can identify the envelope.
  • Submit their sealed, labelled envelope to DOBOR within the deadlines stated above either in-person or by mail. Emailed bids not accepted.

All sealed bids will be opened and reviewed on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the DOBOR Hawaii District Office. Opening and reviewing of bids shall be closed to the public.  The successful bidder of a vessel shall be notified of their winning bid via telephone.  Unsuccessful bidders will not be notified of their unsuccessful bid.  Information about bidders and bids will not be public.

The successful bidder of a vessel shall have until 12:00pm (Noon) on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 to pay the full balance of their bid.  DOBOR accepts payment only by cash, VISA, Mastercard, or certified check.  Failure to make payment in full by the payment deadline shall result in the bid being cancelled, and the next highest bidder will be selected.
