World Rainforest Day

June 22

A tree with moss and water droplets

World Rainforest Day raises awareness about protecting tropical rainforests and combating climate change. Hawaiʻi’s rainforests are our only source of freshwater, and they provide habitat to Hawaiʻi’s native species. You can learn more about our forests, their connection to water, and the threats they face in our StoryMaps on our Education pages:

• Hawaiʻi’s Watersheds and Forests

• Protecting Our Water with Fencing

• Climate Change in Hawaiʻi

• Managing Axis Deer on Maui and Molokaʻi

• Invasive Species: Alibiza

• Explore Hawaiʻi’s Forest Reserves
