In early June, a team of 10 young people from across the US flew to Hawaii to complete their final project in a year-long adventure of learning and professional development with the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC). The NCCC crew, Silver 3, is joining the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) for seven weeks to enhance local efforts to manage Hawaii’s natural resources through the removal of invasive plants, snail surveys, offshore island protection, trail and fence rehabilitation, and out planting. Celebrate National Outdoors Month this June with the Hawaii DLNR, Division of Forestry and Wildlife: volunteer, explore your island home, malama i ka aina.
