SUMMARY:Native Plant Watering: Aloha Tree Alliance
DESCRIPTION:This event is from a partner in the Year of Our Community Forests \nVolunteer at Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail \nJoin us to protect a place that is rich in beauty\, native species\, and cultural history! \nOnce beloved for its native trees\, shrubs\, plants\, birds and snails\, the Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trail is in desperate need for restoration. Today\, due to overuse and misuse\, the meager remaining native forests struggle to survive against erosion from shortcuts\, aggressive invasive species\, and droughts. Downstream\, the runoff from degraded forests kills coral and pollutes Maunalua Bay. Restoring Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trail and the surrounding forest is a massive undertaking\, but it is necessary for the health of our community\, native forest ecosystems\, and the ocean. \nPlease join us in our efforts to restore this native forest. Youʻll learn how to remove invasive species\, plant native plants and become a steward of the ʻāina. Check out our volunteer opportunities below! \nCommunity Tree Planting  \n\nHeld on the third Saturday of each month from 8-11:30am.\nActivities include:\n\nremoving invasive species\ndigging holes\nplanting native trees\nwatering restoration areas and carrying gallons of water\ncreating natural barriers to block shortcuts\n\n\nTree planting will occur during Hawaii’s rainy season (October – April). During the off season\, ATA switches its focus to maintenance.\n\nAloha Friday  \n\nVolunteer to help water keiki native trees and shrubs.\nActivities include hiking up to 1 mile over uneven terrain with up to 2\, 1 gallon jugs. Each jug is around 8lbs. \nPlease bring a backpack\, drinking water and good hiking shoes.\n\nVisit the ATA website for more details: Get Involved – Aloha Tree Alliance

SUMMARY:Community Tree Planting: Aloha Tree Alliance
DESCRIPTION:This event is from a partner in the Year of Our Community Forests. \nVolunteer at Kuliʻouʻou Ridge Trail \n\n\nJoin us to protect a place that is rich in beauty\, native species\, and cultural history! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnce beloved for its native trees\, shrubs\, plants\, birds and snails\, the Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trail is in desperate need for restoration. \nPlease bring a backpack\, drinking water and good hiking shoes.\n\nFor more information and to sign up\, visit: Get Involved – Aloha Tree Alliance
