Don’t miss an opportunity to experience a variety of wahi pana and learn more about HILT’s work. \nHAWAIʻI:\nMahukona Navigational & Ecological Complex \nSaturday\, March 1\, 2025 \nSaturday\, June 7\, 2025 \nSaturday\, September 6\, 2025 \nSaturday\, December 6\, 2025 \nJoin HILT\, Nā Kalai Waʻa\, and Kohala community representatives for a short guided interpretive hike and longer service opportunity at Mahukona on the Kohala Coast. Talk Story on the Land at Mahukona gives the community a chance to learn about Mahukona’s cultural significance and history as well as continued traditional navigational use. It also provides the chance to care for this cherished place through native seed collection\, invasive species removal\, native planting\, fire safety measures\, and kilo (observation and documenting changes over time). The hike takes you over rocky\, uneven terrain in hot\, often windy conditions with few opportunities for shade and lasts for approximately one and a half to two hours. Please wear close-toed shoes\, long sleeves\, sunscreen and bring water in your own reusable bottle. Meet at the canoe warehouse at 9 AM (on your right after turning left off the highway).

This hike allows you to enjoy the sights\, sites\, and sounds of Waiheʻe in the coolness of dusk. Following the hike\, stay for pupu and talk story to finish the evening. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience a variety of wahi pana and learn more about HILT’s work. \nHAWAIʻI:\nMahukona Navigational & Ecological Complex \nSaturday\, March 1\, 2025 \nSaturday\, June 7\, 2025 \nSaturday\, September 6\, 2025 \nSaturday\, December 6\, 2025 \nJoin HILT\, Nā Kalai Waʻa\, and Kohala community representatives for a short guided interpretive hike and longer service opportunity at Mahukona on the Kohala Coast. Talk Story on the Land at Mahukona gives the community a chance to learn about Mahukona’s cultural significance and history as well as continued traditional navigational use. It also provides the chance to care for this cherished place through native seed collection\, invasive species removal\, native planting\, fire safety measures\, and kilo (observation and documenting changes over time). The hike takes you over rocky\, uneven terrain in hot\, often windy conditions with few opportunities for shade and lasts for approximately one and a half to two hours. Please wear close-toed shoes\, long sleeves\, sunscreen and bring water in your own reusable bottle. Meet at the canoe warehouse at 9 AM (on your right after turning left off the highway).
