SUMMARY:Mālama Lehua Nursery and Mala Community Workdays: HOH808
DESCRIPTION:This event is from a partner in the Year of Our Community Forests. \nWelcome to our HOH ʻOhana! \nSince 2015\, our hui has been privileged to lead and participate in volunteer opportunities throughout the ʻEwa moku\, specifically within the areas of Honouliuli and Waipahu.\nAt one point in time\, Puʻuloa was the breadbasket of Oʻahu\, providing food for thousands of kānaka. Between the late 1800ʻs and early 1900ʻs\, our kupuna witnessed ʻāina become land and in modern day we now reap the consequences of the fruit that was sewn. ʻĀina\, to our ancestors\, referred to the land that feeds\, and today it is a loose term for land. Due to the growing economy\, the fertile soils and vast waters of ʻEwa have been lost and it is our kuleana as residents Hawaiʻi to find and return them home.\nOur hope is that one day\, all things and people will exist in lōkahi\, unity. We will need your help to get there! Click on the tabs above to learn more about how you can get involved in making the impossible\, possible.

SUMMARY:Mālama Kapapapuhi Point Park Community Workdays- HOH808
DESCRIPTION:Community Work Days \nJoin us! Every Second Saturday at Kapapapuhi Point Park from 8am-12noon\nKapapapuhi Point Park\, Ewa Beach\, HI 96706 \n\nWelcome to the Kapapapuhi Restoration Project! Kapapapuhi is an `ili `āina\, land area\, in the makai section of Honouliuli\, `Ewa moku. Located on the shoreline of Kaihuopala`ai\, West Loch\, our team works to restore the health of the largest collection of fresh water and estuary on O`ahu.\nAt one point in time\, Pu`uloa was rich with over 30 loko i`a\, traditional Hawaiian fishpond\, and lo`i kalo\, taro patches. Today\, we are one of many hui who are stewarding what is left of these ancient technologies to combat food insecurity and sustain the health and hunger of our people. Within Kapapapuhi Point Park\, we are grateful to steward three (inoperable) loko i`a and are working to restore them back to health.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCommunity Workday Schedule\n2024-2025\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeptember 14\nOctober 12\nNovember 9\nDecember 14\nJanuary 11\n\n\nFebruary 8\nMarch 8 \nApril 12\nMay 10\nJune 14
