Your search found 1193 hits- 12/17/20-2020-2021 GAME BIRD HUNTING SEASON ANNOUNCED FOR THE KAHUA/PONOHOLO RANCH COOPERATIVE GAME MANAGEMENT AREA(Hilo) – The opening of the 2020-2021 Game Bird Hunting Season at the Kahua/Ponoholo Ranch Cooperative Game Management Area will begin on Saturday, December 19, 2020. This game bird hunting season will run through Sunday, January 17, 2021, with legal hunting days on Saturdays and Sundays, only. The hunting area will be open from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. All hunters must be checked out of the area by 5:00 pm as the gates will be locked at that time. During this season, the areas that are open for hunting may change on a weekly basis as cattle operations are actively taking place.
- 12/22/20-SPECIAL ARCHERY & MUZZLELOAD FERAL GOAT HUNTING PERMITS AVAILABLE ON KAUA‘I(Līhu‘e ) — The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) announces the availability of applications for special feral goat hunt in Hunting Unit A, Kekaha Game Management Area (GMA) on the island of Kaua‘i. Permits will be limited determined by a lottery. Depending on the number of applicants, not all hunters may be drawn for the hunt. There will be no stand-by list. Applications are available at various vendors and all hunter check stations on Kaua’i. Deadline to submit applications will be Friday, January 15, 2021. Lottery to assign dates will be on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
- 12/23/20-PUBLIC HEARINGS SCHEDULED FOR INPUT ON THE UPDATE TO THE STATE WATER PROJECTS PLAN(Honolulu) -- The Commission on Water Resource Management (CWRM) will hold public hearings online for an update to the State Water Projects Plan (SWPP) in January 2021. The SWPP is one of five component plans that together constitute the Hawai‘i Water Plan. The major objective of the SWPP is to provide a framework for planning and implementation of water development programs to meet projected water demands for State projects, such as schools, harbors, parks, agricultural parks, and office buildings.
- 12/24/20-EISPN SCOPING MEETING FOR THE WAIKῙKῙ BEACH IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM(Honolulu) - The beaches of Waikīkī are chronically eroding, and the backshore is frequently flooded, particularly during high tides and high surf events. Without beach improvements and maintenance, sea level rise is likely to result in total beach loss in Waikīkī long before the end of the century. The DLNR Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands (OCCL) will be holding a virtual scoping meeting next month regarding the Environmental Impact Statement Preparation Notice (EISPN) for the Waikīkī Beach Improvement and Maintenance Program.

You don’t go to the bathroom at the same place you sleep or eat off. This place is so sacred. I don’t think people realize the mana that it brings and gives. When you come here it feels like coming home,” Kahale says, as tears well up.
- 02/13/21-WAIʻĀNAPANAPA STATE PARK ONLINE RESERVATIONS SYSTEM BEGINNING(HONOLULU) – All visitors and commercial operators will need to make reservations to enter the popular Waiʻānapana State Park on Maui, beginning on March 1. Before the COVID-19 pandemic the popular park, located near the end of the famous Hana Highway in East Maui, had seen increased crowding and a glut of commercial tours.

Hawai‘i’s native butterfly, the Kamehameha butterfly, is a unique member of the insect kingdom and was named after a king. These are some of the things children of all ages will learn in the just-released educational book, “Butterfly for a King.”
- 02/13/21-WHAT’S KILLING THE CATERPILLARS?(Mānoa Cliffs Restoration Area, O‘ahu) – State researchers, working to re-establish the population of Hawai‘i’s official state insect, the Kamehameha butterfly (pulelehua), are being deterred by predators that are feeding on caterpillars before they have a chance to develop into butterflies.
- 02/18/21-2021 LĀNAʻI AXIS DEER AND MOUFLON SHEEP COMBINATION HUNTING SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT(Lānaʻi City) – The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) announce that online applications for a combination 2021 Lānaʻi Axis Deer and Mouflon Sheep Season will be available to the public beginning Monday, February 22, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, hunters will be required to apply online for this hunt.
