IUCN WORLD CONSERVATION CONGRESS HAWAI’I 2016 CONTINUES AS PLANNED
Delegates & Participants Encouraged to be Hurricane Ready
Honolulu – With Tropical Storm Madeline currently impacting Hawai‘i County and Hurricane Lester entering Hawaiian waters over the next several days, the IUCN World Conservation Congress Hawai‘i 2016 and all of its sessions and programs are continuing as scheduled. The Congress begins tomorrow with opening ceremonies at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, and then continues at the Hawai’i Convention Center until Sept. 10, 2016.
If storm conditions do result in cancellations or changes to IUCN World Conservation Congress programming, this information will be reflected on the official Congress website, and through official notification from the State of Hawai‘i and the City and County of Honolulu.
The State and City & County remind visiting delegates, media representatives, and anyone planning to attend the Congress at the Hawai’i Convention Center to be “hurricane aware” until these two storms are well away from the Hawaiian Islands. Local media is providing extensive coverage of the approaching storms and hotels and lodging properties hosting delegates are providing awareness and safety information to their guests.
