HUMAN IMPACTS ON HAWAII’S WILDLIFE RESOURCES

WHAT:   The growing popularity of marine life encounters with turtles, dolphins, manta rays, seals and whales increasingly brings people into close contact with ocean wildlife, often times without any awareness of how human behavior harms or disturbs a natural ecosystem, or may be unsafe. Working with federal partners, DLNR is responsible for protecting marine wildlife and educating people about human/wildlife ethics and how to observe wild creatures without harming or disturbing them or their homes.  DLNR also works with the eco-tourism industry and various non-profits. Community-based stewardship groups help promote environmental stewardship, cultural sensitivity, community well-being and quality education.

WHEN: Monday, August 29, 11 a.m.

WHERE: DLNR, 1151 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu (first floor makai breezeway)
