Oʻahu residents and visitors gain new ways to connect with natural resources online

Posted on Mar 22, 2021

To better connect Oʻahu residents and visitors with the resources we manage on behalf of the people, the Oʻahu Branch of the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife is launching a new website and an improved social media presence. On the web, users can visit the new Oʻahu Forest Users website to access information specific to public lands and natural resources on Oʻahu. The new website is part of a new set of place-based portals to make information easier to find based on the natural areas that are important to you as the user. The new branch-level sites for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Maui Nui, and Hawaiʻi Island offer local information like frequently asked questions, permits, and announcements. These new sites are tightly integrated into DOFAW’s statewide website, providing direct links to island-specific content that can be found on those pages.

In addition to the new Oʻahu Forest Users site, the Oʻahu Branch has also developed an official social media presence. While the statewide Facebook page remains the place to find department-wide information, the OahuDOFAW Instagram and DOFAWOahu Facebook pages have been created specifically with on-island resource enthusiasts in mind. Our accounts celebrate the plants, animals, and places that make Oʻahu special, and are designed to connect with potential volunteers, resource users, and outdoor enthusiasts.
