2021 Volunteer Opportunities-Fall Out Planting Season (Sept-Nov., 2021)

Aloha Mai Kākou!,

We are happy to announce our November Volunteer days for our 2021 fall out planting season. We look forward to working  with you to restore the native forest of Mauna Kea. Sign up and volunteer to help plant native trees at our restoration sites on Mauna Kea.

Updates: We have just over 2000 more Koa and ʻIliahi to plant and will end our out planting season for this year. Sor far we have planted over 38,000 trees and over 300 acres since March of this year. Big Mahalo to all our community volunteers for all your help!

November Calendar: Our November volunteers days are on Nov. 2nd and 9th.

2021 Restoration Areas:
We have over 42, 000 native tress seedlings for this year’s Forest Restoration calendar. Our crew have put in the ground over 18,000 in the spring. We still have over 23,000 more native seedlings of Koa, Māmane, and `Ili`ahi to plant this fall. These young natives are looking great in the nursery and getting ready to meet you on the Mauna.NATIVE SEEDLINGS

Ka`ohe Restoration Area (elevation: 5,000 to 7,000 ft.), Puʻu Mali Restoration Area ( elevation: 5,000 to 7,000 ft.) , Palila Discovery Trail ( elevation: 6,000 to 7,000 ft), and Skyline (elevation: 9,000 to 11,000 ft.)

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

  • All Volunteers Volunteers are required to drive their own 4×4 vehicle  and follow all COVID SAFETY guidelines and protocols.
