- Feral Goat Control Permits Available For Hunting Unit F on Kaua‘iLIHU‘E -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife announces an opportunity for interested individuals to assist the division in an animal control of feral goats in Hunting Unit F on Kaua‘i, pursuant to Title 13, Chapter 123, “Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting,” §13-123-9, “Nuisance or crop damage.”

- Hunting Units A And J Open To Feral Pig Hunting On Kaua‘i In FebruaryLIHU‘E -- Hunting Unit A on the island of Kaua‘i will open to feral pig hunting starting Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, and ending June 29, 2014, on Saturdays, Sundays, and state holidays. Hawai‘i residents interested in hunting feral pig in Hunting Unit A are required to acquire a permit from the Kaua‘i office of the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) office. All provision of Chapter 123 rules and Chapter 123 Exhibit 1 shall remain in effect.

- 10/25/13 – DLNR Announces Nov. 2 Start Of 2013-2014 Game Bird Hunting SeasonGame bird hunting opportunities are offered on the six major islands in the State of Hawaii: (Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai and the big island of Hawaii). Each of these islands has one or more State-designated public hunting areas (called Hunting Units), which are open for hunting at certain times during each year. Game bird hunting opportunities may also be available on private lands as well.
- 10/25/13 – DLNR Announces Nov 2 Start To 2013-2014 Game Bird Hunting Season On Hawaii IslandDLNR wildlife biologists are predicting an “average” season of bird hunting, with the easing of drought conditions in many parts of the state. A December 31, 2007 appellate court ruling determined that no game bird stamp sales are allowed for hunting. A valid hunting license only is required for all game bird hunting on public and private lands. All game bird hunting is regulated by Hawaii Administrative Rules Title 13, Chapter 122 (see https://hawaii.gov/dlnr/dofaw “Administrative Rules”).
- 10/25/13 – DLNR Announces The 2014 Lanai Axis Deer Hunting SeasonApplications for all hunts may be submitted in-person or mailed, to the Maui Division of Forestry and Wildlife Office, 54 S. High St., Rm 101, Wailuku, HI 96793. Lanai residents only are to mail or deliver their applications to the Lanai DOFAW Office at 917 Fraser Ave., P.O. Box 630661, Lanai City, HI 96763. The DEADLINE for submitting applications will be 4:00 p.m on Friday December 6, 2013. Interested hunters are encouraged to submit applications well before the application deadline to insure proper processing.

- 10/21/13 – DLNR Plans Lottery for Special Access Feral Cattle Control in Pu‘u ‘O‘o Area of Hilo Restricted Watershed – Application deadline extended to Oct. 25Interested persons wanting additional details regarding the feral cattle control program, application process and/or special accommodations, may contact Division of Forestry and Wildlife in Hilo at (808) 974-4221.
- 10/01/13 – DLNR Plans Lottery For Special Access Feral Cattle Control In Pu‘u ‘O‘o Area Of Hilo Restricted WatershedSelected applicants must confirm acceptance of their assigned hunt period by calling the East Hawai‘i DOFAW office at (808) 974-4221 no later than noon Wednesday preceding their assignment. Permits will be issued and/or validated at the entrance gate into Pu‘u ‘O‘o near the 22 mile marker along Daniel K. Inouye Highway (formerly Saddle Road) on the Saturday morning of the assigned hunt. If selected applicants decline or do not call to confirm by the deadline, then a stand-by group will be chosen from the original list of applicants who were not previously selected. Stand-bys will be notified by phone. No stand-bys waiting at the gates will be allowed.
