Recording Fees

LAND COURT:

  • Recording Fee – Documents up to and including 50 pages – $36.00 per document.
  • Recording Fee – Documents 51 pages or more – $101.00 per document.
  • Certificate of Title Issuance – $50.00
  • Each additional memorandum on Certificates required by any one instrument – $5.00
  • Certified copy of Certificate of Title – $10.00.

REGULAR SYSTEM:

  • Recording Fee – Documents up to and including 50 pages – $41.00 per document.
  • Recording Fee – Documents 51 pages or more – $106.00 per document.
  • How do I know what system my document was recorded in?
    A: Regular System Document numbers:
         Prior to 1990: Liber (book) and Page references. i.e. 1+5digitbook+3digitpage
         From 1990 – 2011: Year followed by a document number. i.e. 1990002230
         2012 – 7/31/2024: 8 digit numbers
         8/1/2024 – Present: 10 digit numbers
         Land Court Document numbers:
         Sequential series of numbers up to 7 digits preceded by the letter ‘T’.

NOTE:  All Regular System documents have a BOC label on the top right corner whereas Land Court document labels will be on the top left corner.  Labels on both corners will denote “Double System” documents that were required to be recorded in both systems.

UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE:

  • Recording Fee $41.00 per document for each UCC1, UCC3 and UCC5 (including Addendum and Additional Party).
  • UCC Financing Statement (UCC1)
  • UCC Financing Statement Addendum (UCC1Ad)
  • UCC Financing Statement Additional Party (UCC1AP)
  • UCC Financing Statement Amendment (UCC3)
  • UCC Financing Statement Amendment Addendum (UCC3Ad)
  • UCC Financing Statement Amendment Additional Party (UCC3AP)
  • National Correction Statement (UCC5)
     

National Information Request (UCC 11):

– Fee is $25 per search request plus $5.00 for each creditor found.

– Additional fee of $1.00 per page for copies requested.

-Additional fee of $10.00 if Certification required.

RECORDING INFORMATION:

In accordance with Hawaií Administrative Rules Title 13, Chapter 16, Section 4 (c)(d)(e)

The Registrar may refuse to record any instrument, paper, or notice if:

  • It is not 8.5″ X 11″; or , which contains a schedule, inventory, or exhibit not 8.5″ X 11″.
  • It will not reproduce legibly under photographic or electrostatic methods.
  • An instrument consists of more than one page, and is not single-sided, numbered consecutively, (beginning with number one); or, the total number of pages contained in the document isn’t referenced on the first page thereof; or, has any papers or materials secured or attached in any manner that may conceal any written text; or, is not stapled once or fastened in the upper left corner ; or , has a cover or backer attached. The Registrar may remove any rivets affixed to an instrument.
  • A self-addressed, correctly-stamped envelope (of appropriate size) does not accompany the instrument.

To receive a ‘conformed’ copy upon recording you must include a copy with your original document as well as 2 self-addressed, postage paid envelopes.

On the first page:

  • The top three and one-half inches (3-1/2″) shall be reserved for recording information .
  • The following one inch (1″) shall be reserved for information showing to whom the recorded document should be returned with the complete mailing address beginning one and one half inches (1-1/2″) from the left margin and not exceeding three and one-half inches (3-1/2″) per line. (None conforming documents may have a conforming cover sheet attached.)
  • Shall identify and include, if possible, the names and addresses of all parties, the type of document, and the tax map key number. (The provision of this paragraph shall not apply to any instrument executed prior to January 1, 1990.)

GENERAL:

  • Uncertified Copies – $1.00 per page
  • Certified Copies of Documents – $10.00 plus $1.00 per page plus $10.00 processing fee

  • Public Research/Reference Room (Room #123): 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. [Hours can change on short notice due to staffing shortages, including lunch hour closures.]

Any document received in the mail prior to 2/27/2017 will be subject to the new fees if recorded on 2/27/17 or after.
