DOCARE Academy Program
In 2020, The Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement conducted its first ever law enforcement entry level program for officers with no prior law enforcement experience. This afforded the opportunity for those seeking a job in conservation law enforcement an opportunity to join the division. Since 2020, three recruit classes have been conducted adding approximately 78 officers to the work force.
Prior to the creation of the Academy Program, officers joining DOCARE needed prior law enforcement experience.
Recruits go through 7 months of rigorous training, to include, but not limted to:
- Administrative Justice Course
- Physical fitness training
- Hawaii Revised Statute
- Hawaii Administrative Rules
- First Aid/CPR/AED Training
- NRA Certified Firearm Training
- Defensive Resistance Training
- PWC and Vessel Training
- Police Officer Safety and Emergency Vehicle Training
