TWO MORE CITATIONS ISSUED FOR LOITERING IN A CLOSED AREA IN LOWER PUNA
(Hilo) – DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources (DOCARE) officers cited two more people for allegedly being in a closed area in the East Rift Eruption Zone over the weekend.
Cited at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 8 were:
Colin Malone, 31 years-old, California
Kent Davis, 59 years-old, California
Officers say the pair was cited on Pohoiki Road past Lava Tree State Monument. This brings the total number of citations issued under Hawai‘i County ordinance (HCC 7-10(1) to 86. The citations are petty misdemeanors but under a Governor’s proclamation people convicted could be fined as much as $5000 and/or be sentenced to one year in jail.
