Volunteering with the Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Project (MKFRP) is a great way to give back and also learn hands-on about the areas we protect.  To learn more, visit www.facebook.com/MKFRP.

We look forward to working with you again in the fall season. Fall volunteer out planting season starts on the first week of August to the last week November.

Here is a quick glance at at the type of volunteer groups we host and restoration sites where we host volunteers. 

Host Ka Umeke Kaeo 4th graders at Palila Discovery Trail for a day in the Kaohe Māmane Forest and where we planted young Māmane trees for the Palila and other native birds that live there.
Host Hawaii Girl Scout group and their families at Pu’u Mali Restoration Area where we camped and Planted young Koa and Mamane trees.
45 Community Volunteers came up to plant Mamane seedlings at Skyline out planting plots at 10,000 ft. elevation.
Host school kids at Palila Discovery Trail for a day in the Mamane Forest.

We opened our 2022 Spring Out Planting Season with 360 program of all women collage students. We planted Mamane, and ‘Iliahi at Kaohe Fire Recovery Plots.
