[OʻAHU] UPDATED 4/30/24 - Sand Island State Recreation Area: Camping has REOPENED. Make a reservation at the State Parks camping permit site.

[KAUAʻI] UPDATED 4/30/24 – Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park: Kalalau trail restroom is CLOSED until further notice.

[KAUAʻI] UPDATED 4/26/24 –Kalalau Trail, Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park: Camping permits held back for local residents during summer, see Kalalau Trail site for more information.

[O’AHU] UPDATED 4/20/24 – Vehicle access road in the Mokuleʻia Section of Ka’ena Point State Park is OPEN. Keawa’ula Section of Ka’ena Point State Park: water pump down; comfort station closed; portable toilets available.

[KAUAʻI] UPDATED 3/18/24 – Kōkeʻe State Park: The gate to Puʻu O Kila Lookout will be closed to vehicular traffic due to road repairs beginning 3/19/24. The lookout will still be accessible by pedestrians, parking is available at Kalalau lookout.

Celebrate Arbor Day at Sand Island State Recreation Area
November 5, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Join a multi-community effort to beautify an urban state park this Arbor Day. State Parks, the Hawai’i Softball Foundation and several other non-profit organizations will come together to plant native trees, remove rubbish and comb sand for kiawe thorns at Sand Island State Recreation Area. There will be a fruit tree and plant giveaway on a first come first serve basis, one per volunteer, as supplies last.

Meet at the last parking lot next to the softball fields. Wear shoes, and sun protection, and bring water.
