Volcano Art Center ʻAlalā Exhibition Opening Reception Sept. 3
Posted on Jun 15, 2016 in News & EventsThe opening reception for the exhibition “Return of ʻAlalā: Restoring the Voice of Hawaiʻi’s Native Forests” will take place at the Volcano Art Center gallery in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on September 3, 2016, from 5-7 pm. A multimedia, juried art contest featuring the ‘Alalā , on display daily from Sept. 3 – Oct. 9, 2016 at Volcano Art Center in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. In conjunction with the long anticipated release of the ‘Alalā, Hawaii’s native crow, back into the wild. Volcano Art Center is partnering with San Diego Zoo Global and the Keauhou Bird Conservation Center to display a juried, multi media exhibition of the ‘Alalā. The exhibition will provide extensive education featuring the ‘Alalā as an important bird in Hawaii’s ecology and native culture and double as a fundraising effort to support the release with will begin in November 2016 and continue over the next 5 years. This exhibit will also feature an evening gala with to raise additional support and funds for this important conservation effort. On display at the Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, 9am to 5 pm daily, the exhibition is free to the public though park entrance fees apply.
