- 09/12/13 – DLNR Closes Kalalau Trail Due To Helicopter Accident
Investigation is pending – pilot and two passengers uninjured, taken to hospital.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources today closed the Kalalau trail in Napali Coast State Wilderness Park, until further notice, due to a helicopter accident at Kalalau beach this afternoon. The park is closed in order to preserve the location of the accident pending investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. - 09/30/13 – Public Information Meetings Scheduled On Kiholo State Park Master PlanState Parks and its consultants from Planning Solutions, are developing a master plan that will preserve the area’s natural wildland character and its significant archaeological and cultural features, protect the unique coastal resources, and determine the public’s recreational use of the area.

Across the United States, the largest trees of their species joined the ranks of the more than 780 national champion trees listed in American Forests’ National Register of Big Trees. More than 40 new champions were crowned across 50 states and the District of Columbia, including 6 new champions in Hawaii.
