After a multi-agency monitoring team continued to see a declining trend in sick collector urchins in Kaneohe Bay, the Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) made the decision to resume work to plant urchins in the bay to eat invasive algae.  On June 25th, 2014 approximately 6,000 urchins were released from the DAR sea urchin hatchery.

These urchins will go on to keep the invading seaweed under control so the coral in Kaneohe Bay can thrive.
