Highlights of the 2018 HACD Annual Conference at the Royal Kona Resort
Thank you to the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District for hosting this year’s HACD Annual Conference! Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the beautiful ocean views and great service provided by the Royal Kona Resort. Representatives and guests from 16 Hawaii SWCDs, as well as their partners from various federal, state and county agencies, shared information about their latest projects, discussed important issues facing agriculture in Hawaii today and enjoyed time with peers. While the first day of the conference provided a wealth of information through discussion and presentations, that evening was filled with great conversation and a lively, fun-filled auction (all proceeds from the auction go to supporting the Hawaii State Conservation Awareness Program). The second day of the conference allowed participants to explore the scenic areas of Kona through a tour that visited various farms such as South Kona Fruit Stand, Greenwell Farms and The Vanillerie. During the last day of the conference, participants got back to business during the HACD Annual Executive Board Meeting. Thank you to all who participated and also to those who donated items to the auction. If you’re interested in conservation, agriculture, or just just plain interested, please be sure to join us next June as Molokai- Lanai SWCD hosts our 2019 HACD Annual Conference on Molokai (information will be posted as it becomes available)!
HACD Meetings
The Executive Board for the Hawai‘i Association of Conservation Districts try to meet quarterly to discuss issues that are important to the organization and to the individual districts. HACD also holds an Annual Conference, which rotates among the islands and their hosting SWCDs. The individual districts also try to meet on a monthly basis, generally at the same time and place (refer to chart below). Please contact the specific SWCD office to confirm the meeting times and locations.
