Summer is coming, which usually means more time on the water and in your boat. Many alien invasive species are spread when organisms attach to the bottom of your boat, this is referred to as “biofouling”. When a boat is used in one watershed and then transported to another watershed, this serves as a way of transporting alien species to different parts of the island or entirely new islands.
So be sure to rinse, scrub, and dry your boat and gear after each use to help prevent the spread of alien invasive species.
