[KAUAʻI] UPDATED 3/18/24 – Kōkeʻe State Park: The gate to Puʻu O Kila Lookout will be closed to vehicular traffic due to road repairs beginning 3/19/24. The lookout will still be accessible by pedestrians, parking is available at Kalalau lookout.

Mālaekahana Volunteer Service Project

DLNR Division of State Parks and Forestry and Wildlife is looking for hardy volunteers to help install symbolic fencing* as a new enclosure for the endangered yellow-faced bee population at Mālaekahana State Recreation Area.
9am~12pm meet in parking lot in front of restrooms.

All participants must bring a signed liability release waiver.
*Symbolic fencing is a low-profile conservation technique to protect fragile areas and delineate trails. Fencing is made of wooden posts and rope, which require driving rebar into the ground, then the posts onto the rebar, followed by stringing rope through the posts.
