DAR is hosting a series of three in-person talk-story events on Maui to help the community become familiar with the Holomua Initiative and provide input on its direction. The meetings will be held at the following locations.

Wailuku: Friday 10/28, 5:00-9:00 pm, J. Walter Cameron Center Auditorium, 95 Mahalani Street
Lahaina: Saturday 10/29, 1:00-5:00 pm, Lahaina Intermediate School Cafeteira, 871 Lahainaluna Road
Hāna: Sunday 10/30, 1:00-5:00 pm, Ala Kukui “Halau” Building, 4224 Hāna Highway

Maui community members will be asked to share their knowledge about nearshore waters and how we can come together to keep families fishing for generations to come.

Beginning with Maui, DAR will work with communities on each of the main Hawaiian Islands through the Holomua Initiative to weave cultural, community, and scientific knowledge to create interconnected networks of MMAs by 2030.
