DLNR BEGINS CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT WORK AT HAENA STATE PARK
Traffic Control and Pedestrian Safety Barriers to be in Place
LIHUE – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks is conducting public safety improvement work at Haena State Park on Kauai, beginning Oct. 27, 2014 and continuing through Nov. 8, 2014. The work includes stabilization of loose boulders and other material along the road near Waiakanaloa Wet Cave.
During the project, Haena State Park will remain open, though park visitors may experience periodic traffic stops and pedestrian safety barriers will be in place. DLNR staff will be present during the work being performed by Hi-Tech Rockfall Construction, Inc. The project cost is $176,543.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding for the inconveniences this project may create,” said Dan Quinn, State Parks administrator. “These improvements are necessary to ensure public safety in this heavily visited park area,” he said.
