WHAT: A high number of reported shark incidents this year is causing people to wonder, are there factors behind this spike and can anything be done about it? A new study of shark populations and behavior around Maui will begin next year that hopes to understand what’s going on, and improve our knowledge of these fascinating animals. DLNR reminds the public the ocean is the sharks’ home and to follow safety precautions to reduce the chances of being bit.
