DLNR CLOSES MOLOKAI STATE FOREST RESERVE
TO VEHICULAR ACCESS
Maunahui access road closed due to unsafe road conditions
– pedestrian use still open
HONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has closed vehicular access on the Molokai State Forest Reserve – Maunahui access road from the hunters’ check station to the Makakupaia gate – due to unsafe road conditions caused by the recent heavy rains. Forest use activities such as hiking and hunting are still accessible.
The forest reserve access road is projected to reopen as soon as weather permits and hazardous conditions are addressed. Forestry crews will need to use heavy equipment to remove debris from the road and resurface where needed. DLNR appreciates the public’s kokua with this closure for public safety purposes.
