NOMINATING COMMITTEE TO REVIEW
WATER COMMISSION APPLICANTS
HONOLULU –The nominating committee to the State Commission on Water Resource Management will meet at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at the Kalanimoku State Office building, located at 1151 Punchbowl Street, Room 227, to review personnel applications to fill a vacant seat on the State Water Commission. The selected nominee will serve a four-year term beginning July 1, 2014.
The nominating committee will review applications and send a list of at least three qualified individuals to the Governor. The Governor will then select and nominate one person from the list to fill the vacant position on the Commission. That nominee will be subject to Senate confirmation.
The qualifications for the position are established by law (Hawaii Revised Statutes §174C-7(b)). The single task of the nominating committee is to review and submit a list of names to the Governor.
Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes 䆘-4, the nominating committee may hold an executive meeting closed to the public to discuss matters authorized under 䆘-5. Since the only purpose of the Nominating Committee is to review personnel applications (subject to privacy rights) and submit a list of names to the Governor, it is likely that the nominating committee will vote to meet in executive session closed to the public (as it has in the past).
Persons with disabilities who plan to attend the meeting may contact the Commission on Water Resource Management at least three days in advance of the public meeting to indicate if they have special needs which require accommodations. Contact the Commission at the above address or phone (Kauai) 274-3141 ext. 70214, (Maui) 984-2400 ext. 70214, (Hawaii) 974 ext. 70214, (Molokai or Lanai) 1-800-468-4644 ext. 70214 or 587-0214.
