LIHUE — Starting Monday, December 15, 2014 through Tuesday December 30, 2014, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of State Parks will install a new water tank that will serve the comfort stations at the Waimea Canyon lookout.
Here is the construction schedule:
· December 15 – 19: site preparation including vegetation clearing and grubbing and construction of water tank foundation.
· December 29: transporting, installing and connecting a 12,000 gallon water tank.
· December 30: demolishing and removing the existing water tank.
While the lookout will remain open during construction, and steps will be taken to minimize any impacts to park users, the public is advised there will be noise, minimal impacts to the lookout parking lot, minimal traffic slow-downs and temporary closure of the comfort stations during the connection on December 29. Portable toilets will be provided on the day of tank disconnection/reconnection.
