9/26/22 – Holomua Marine 30×30 Outside Hawai‘i Episode 1
OC 16’s Outside Hawai‘i has launched a new series on marine management in partnership with the Department of Land and Natural Resources, specifically as part of Holomua Marine 30×30 – the statewide initiative that weaves scientific, cultural and community knowledge to ensure healthy and abundant nearshore waters for the people of Hawai‘i.
The mission of the Holomua Marine 30×30 Initiative is to effectively manage Hawaiʻi’s marine resources with at least 30% of each island’s nearshore waters established as marine management areas by 2030.
This segment takes place on the island of O‘ahu with a team from DLNR’s Division of Aquatic Resources to see them in action, educating the community, restoring coral reefs, and removing invasive algae.
Holomua would like to find out your thoughts about the program, and is asking for your kokua in completing a 10-minute survey about the series.
