Scoping meeting scheduled for proposed Miloliʻi Community-based Subsistence Fishing Area
The Division of Aquatic Resources will be hosting a virtual public scoping meeting regarding the proposed management plan and rules for the Miloliʻi Community-based Subsistence Fishing Area (CBSFA) on December 16th 5:30-7:30p. Fishers and ocean users are encouraged to participate as there will be an overview presentation of the proposed area and regulations for the CBSFA, as well as an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and give input.
The community group Kalanihale has been working with DAR through the CBSFA process.
Proposed boundaries of the CBSFA are from Kīpahoehoe in the north to Kaunā in the south, nearly 18.6 miles. The community is proposing regulations for pāku’iku’i, kole, ʻōpelu, uhu, ʻū’ū, ʻopihi, ‘a’ama, and ula. The community is also proposing several place-based gear restrictions and no aquarium fishing within the CBSFA boundaries.
