Recent poll shows strong support for managing fisheries in Hawai‘i

A recent survey conducted by The Nature Conservancy found that about 90% of respondents supported efforts to restore the health of nearshore areas and coral reefs in Hawai‘i, with 88% supporting fishing restrictions in certain areas to allow fish populations to recover. The poll was conducted in January 2023 through randomized online and telephone interviews with almost 900 Hawai‘i voters, and overall the majority agreed that local communities should also have a clear role in helping to manage marine areas.
