DLNR TO CLOSE KULA FOREST RESERVE AND KAHIKINUI FOREST RESERVE –PAPA‘ANUI TRACT AREAS IN OCTOBER FOR REPAIRS AND IMPROVEMENTS
KAHULUI, MAUI — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) will close the Kula Forest Reserve, Waipoli Access Road, Kahikinui Forest Reserve – Papa‘anui Tract, and Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area for two weeks from Monday, October 2, 2017, through Friday, October 13, 2017, to allow for scheduled road repairs, trails repairs, road safety improvements, and fuel reduction work.
Any forest or park permits for Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area for that period are being cancelled. All roads, hunting areas, trails and facilities and activities including hiking, biking, camping, and hunting, associated with these areas will be affected by these closures.
The Waipoli Access Road will be closed from the “white gate” to the Skyline Trailhead gate.
