NUMEROUS STATE PARKS UNITS CLOSING IN ADVANCE OF WINTER STORM

(Honolulu) – The DLNR Division of State Parks has or is closing the following units due to the impending storm:

  • Ka‘ena Point State Park (O‘ahu) – Both Keawa‘ula & Mokulēʻia access closed due to potentially dangerous surf and water conditions
  • Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline (O‘ahu) – Tidepools trail closed
  • Mālaekahana State Recreation Area (O‘ahu) – Closed as of 10 a.m. Sunday
  • Ha‘ena State Park and Napali Coast State Wilderness Park & Kalalau Trail (Kaua‘i) – Remain closed due to April 2018 flood damage
  • West side parks (Hawai‘i island) – Closed as of 10 a.m. Sunday

Additional parks and areas may be closed as the storm approaches closer to the main Hawaiian Islands.  Please continue to check for latest closures at https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/ or on the DLNR Facebook page.
