- 4/1/26 – KAMAʻĀINA ARTISTS SOUGHT FOR CLIMATE ACTION RESIDENCY PROGRAMHONOLULU – Four kamaʻāina artists are being sought to constitute the second cohort for the Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission’s (CCMAC) groundbreaking Climate Action Residency Program. This initiative seeks to engage artists to explore the urgent realities of climate change and channel their art to inspire and connect Hawaiʻi residents to critical climate challenges around the state
- 3/23/26 – CLOSURE OF NORTHWEST OʻAHU PUBLIC ACCESS ROADSHONOLULU – Access roads to Mokulēʻia Forest Reserve, Kuaokalā Forest Reserve and Kuaokalā Game Management Area in northwest Oʻahu are closed until further notice.
- 3/23/26 – TRAIL MAINTENANCE BRINGS MODIFIED HOURS TO MĀNOA FALLS; LATE MARCH INTO APRILHONOLULU – Trail improvements and maintenance work will temporarily affect weekday access to the Mānoa Falls Trail during portions of the weeks of March 30 and April 6. The popular hiking trail, located at the back of O‘ahu’s Mānoa Valley, will be open the Good Friday state holiday weekend.
- 3/17/26 – HAWAIIAN PLANTS IN FUNDING CONTEST TO COME “ROARING BACK”HONOLULU – While basketball fans prepare for March Madness, conservationists have their own competition planned for March. The Uproar Conservation Challenge, hosted by the Indianapolis Zoo, lets users vote for their favorite at-risk species, with the winner receiving $10,000 for conservation efforts. This year’s contest includes two plant species found only in Hawaiʻi: ʻŌhiʻa and Kanaloa.
- 2/23/2026 – HAWAIʻI ISLAND 2026 SPRING BEARDED TURKEY SEASONHILO, Hawaiʻi – The 2026 Spring Bearded Turkey Hunting Season is fast approaching, opening Sunday, March 1. The season will run for 46 consecutive days through Wednesday, April 15. The spring hunt will be for bearded turkeys only, in locations identified below.

- 2/5/26 – IT’S PEAK HUMPBACK WHALE SEASON – GO SLOW, WHALES BELOW!HONOLULU – More than 10,000 humpback whales migrate to Hawaiʻi each winter to breed, nurse calves and raise their young. As koholā, or humpback whale, season reaches its peak in Hawaiʻi the Go Slow – Whales Below initiative urges mariners to be mindful and exercise caution when out on the ocean, for the safety of the whales and everyone on the water.

- 1/22/26 – INVASIVE INSECT TARGETING MĀMAKI DETECTED ON KAUAʻILĪHUʻE, Kauaʻi – A communilty report to the Kauaʻi Invasive Species Committee (KISC) last month led to the collection of a single live ramie moth (Arcte coerula) caterpillar, the first detection of the invasive pest on Kauaʻi.
