- 9/23/25 – LOCAL ARTISTS SHOWCASE ORIGINAL ARTWORK WITH FOCUS ON CLIMATE CHANGEHONOLULU – Residents and visitors are invited to attend a gallery opening on Oct. 4 that will showcase original artwork focusing on and exploring the urgent realities of climate change. The special exhibit, “Kaiāulu: Rising Together,” will highlight the work of four local artists – Gillian Dueñas, Benjamin Fairfield, Keisha Kanaka and Erin Voss — and will run through the month of October at The Hawaiʻi State Art Museum.
- 9/15/25 – COMMUNITY INPUT SOUGHT ON MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HONOLULU WATERSHED FOREST RESERVEHONOLULU – The community is invited to review and discuss a draft management plan for the Moanalua Section of the Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve at an open house event on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
- 9/10/25 – JOIN THE DISCUSSION ON HAWAIʻI’S CLIMATE FUTURE AT A LIBRARY NEAR YOUHONOLULU – The Hawaiʻi Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC) is partnering with state libraries to host talk-story sessions that connect communities with climate actions aimed to make Hawaiʻi safer, healthier and more affordable.
- 8/22/25 – CLIMATE COMMISSION INVITES COMMUNITY TO RESOURCE FAIR AND FILM EVENTHONOLULU – Residents are invited to a Community Resource Fair and Film Event on Thursday, August 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the KEY Project Community Center in Kāneʻohe.
- 8/18/25 – DLNR URGES CAUTION NEAR LAVA LANDS IN COASTAL AREAS ON HAWAIʻI ISLANDHILO, Hawaiʻi – Newly formed lands from the 2018 Kīlauea volcano lava flows, known as lava deltas, are creating a potential hazard for Hawaiʻi Island residents and visitors. The recent discovery of a large crack in a lava delta at Kapoho, in the Puna district, demonstrates the enduring instability that newly created land presents and may indicate signs of imminent collapse. Due to these circumstances and risk to public safety, DLNR advises extreme caution when visiting coastal areas on Hawaiʻi Island.
- 8/11/25 – LEGACY LAND CONSERVATION PROGRAM INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026 LAND ACQUISITION GRANTSHONOLULU – The DLNR Legacy Land Conservation Program (LLCP) invites grant applications from state and county agencies and nonprofit land conservation organizations for fiscal year 2026. Approximately $6.7 million in grant funds is expected to be available for award.
- 8/5/25 – HELP GUIDE HAWAIʻI’S CLIMATE FUTUREHONOLULU – Global climate change poses significant challenges to Hawai‘i’s communities, natural resources and economy with rising sea levels, higher temperatures and increased wildfire, flood and drought risk. The Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC) and partners have drafted a comprehensive roadmap to steer state efforts to meet ambitious climate goals and address these problems.
- 7/30/25 – STATE PARKS AND HARBORS REOPEN AFTER TSUNAMI EVENTHONOLULU – This morning, officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center called off the tsunami advisory for the state of Hawaiʻi. As of 9 a.m., all state parks and small boat harbors on all islands have reopened.
- 7/29/25 – DOCARE MOBILIZING STATEWIDE FOR TSUNAMI EVACUATIONSHONOLULU - The DLNR Division of Conservation Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) is mobilizing statewide to assist tsunami evacuation efforts. All state parks with a beach component are closed.
- 7/23/25 – MAUNALUA BAY DREDGING AND FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN JULY 28HONOLULU – Maintenance dredging and facility improvements are set to begin at the Maunalua Bay Boat Ramp in Hawai‘i Kai next week. The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) is hosting a pre-construction meeting this Friday, July 25 at 3 p.m. at the Maunalua Bay Boat Ramp Facility to present project details and information. All those interested are welcomed to attend.
