- 2/5/25 – SALVAGE PLANS UNDERWAY FOR GROUNDED SAILBOAT ON MAUIHONOLULU — The owner of the sailing vessel Hula Girl continues coordinating closely with the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) and the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) to free the boat from where it grounded in the Honolua-Mokulē‘ia Marine Life Conservation District (MLCD) last Thursday night.
- 2/5/25 – HAWAI‘I WILDLIFE CONSERVATION/GAME BIRD STAMP CONTEST OPENSHONOLULU – Artists are invited to submit entries to the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) for the 2025-26 Hawaiʻi Wildlife Conservation and Game Bird Stamp annual art contest. The wildlife conservation stamp is a requirement for Hawai‘i state hunting licenses and the game bird stamp is required for anyone intending to hunt game birds. Both stamps will also be available to stamp collectors.
- 1/15/25 – COMMUNITY-BUILT COMFORT STATION COMING TO HĀ‘ENA STATE PARKHĀ‘ENA, Kauaʻi – After years of planning, permitting and saving money, the Hui Makaʻāinana o Makana, the nonprofit steward of Hā‘ena State Park, is preparing to start construction of a much-needed new comfort station there.
- 1/10/25 – YEAR OF OUR COMMUNITY FORESTS CELEBRATES WHERE WE LIVE, LEARN, AND PLAY(HONOLULU) – At a signing ceremony today, Governor Josh Green, M.D., proclaimed 2025 as the “Year of Our Community Forests.”
- 1/10/25 – KAUAʻI AVIAN RESCUE AND RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS MOVING TO SINGLE SITEHONOLULU – The cancellation of a decades-long set-aside of land from the state of Hawai‘i to the County of Kaua‘i has paved the way for Kaua‘i’s renowned forest bird and seabird recovery and protection programs to move into a joint facility.
- 12/18/24 – RARE SNAILS REINTRODUCED AFTER 33 YEARS IN CAPTIVITY(HONOLULU) – The first batch of Achatinella fuscobasis, a rare Hawaiian snail species, was recently released into the Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve of the Ko‘olau Mountains on O‘ahu. The release marked a reintroduction to the forest for the species after more than 33 years in captivity.
- 12/13/24 – 25 NEW STATE CONSERVATION OFFICERS COMMISSIONED(HONOLULU) – Twenty-five recruits are now fully commissioned conservation officers with the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE).
- 12/12/24 – LONG-AWAITED POHOIKI DREDGING TO BEGIN IN EARLY 2025HONOLULU — A $9.2 million contract has been awarded to dredge Hawaiʻi Island’s lava-inundated Pohoiki Bay, which will bring relief to the boaters and fishers who have been unable to use the bay’s boat ramp since the eruption of Kīlauea volcano six and a half years ago.
