- 01/29/16 – DLNR Holds Public Meeting February 5 on Koke‘e Animal Control Within Pu‘u Ka Pele Fire Reforestation ProjectLIHU‘E, KAUA‘I -- The latest step in the state’s ongoing efforts to restore the Pu‘u Ka Pele Forest Reserve on Kaua‘i is to protect the newly out-planted koa trees within the previously burned and logged area, by carrying out an animal control hunt within a designated portion of the forest reserve. This animal control will run for two months from Feb. 8, 2016 to April 8, 2016.

- 01/28/16 – DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation Opens Office on Kailua-Kona PierKAILUA-KONA, HAWAII -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) has opened a new boating office at the Kailua Pier, in Kailua-Kona. DOBOR staff based in this office will manage the day-by-day operation of the Kailua Pier and provide support services for recreational boaters.

- 01/25/16 – DLNR to Conduct Animal Control Activities At Mauna Kea Forest Lands, Temporary Closure of Forest, Game Management Areas InvolvedHILO -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) will conduct animal control activities specifically for trapping mouflon/feral sheep hybrids; staff hunting, and/or aerial shooting from helicopters for feral goats, feral sheep, mouflon and mouflon/feral sheep hybrids within palila critical habitat in the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve (Unit A), Mauna Kea Ice Age Natural Area Reserve (Unit K), Palila Mitigation Lands, and the Ka‘ohe Game Management Area (Unit G) on the island of Hawai‘i.
- 01/22/16 – ‘Iao Valley State Monument to reopen Jan. 23, Park Improvement CompletedKAHULUI – ‘Iao Valley State Monument on Maui will reopen at 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, following completion of various park improvements, including closures of the two large capacity cesspools in the park that were mandated via a consent agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
