- 09/16/14 – State Begins Phase 2 Construction Of Diamond Head-Fort Ruger PathwayHONOLULU –The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has begun work to complete the Fort Ruger Pathway on the exterior slopes of Diamond Head State Monument. A groundbreaking ceremony for phase two of the pathway improvements was held today at the park, led by Board of Land and Natural Resources Chairperson William Aila, Jr., and attended by legislators and representatives of the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), Kapiolani Community College, Diamond Head Citizens Advisory Committee, and the state Department of Defense (which shares management and jurisdiction of Diamond Head State Monument).
- 09/12/14 – Makiki Valley Trail Reopens Folling Hazard Rock Remova;HONOLULU -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources today reopened a segment of the Makiki Valley hiking trail following completion and inspection of work to mitigate rock hazards exposed by a landslide in early July.
- 09/12/14 – DLNR, OHA Close Wao Kele O Puna Forest Reserve Due To Lava DangrHILO -- The Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Department of Land and Natural Resources announce the immediate closure of Wao Kele o Puna Forest Reserve, until further notice, due to the hazards associated with the June 27 lava flow. Wao Kele o Puna is owned by OHA and managed by DLNR.
- 09/12/14 – DLNR To Promote National Hunting and Fishing DayHONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) invites the public to take part in National Hunting and Fishing Day. To promote awareness, DLNR will host two events on Sept. 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Koko Head shooting complex in East Oahu, 8102 Kalanianaole Hwy.
- 09/05/14 – State And County To Conduct Communication Exercise In Nounou Forest Reserve On Kauai, Sept. 10LIHUE – State and County officials will conduct a communications exercise on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Nounou Forest Reserve, near Kapaa. The exercise involves the Kauai Police and Fire Departments, Kauai County Civil Defense and the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement. They will be testing a portable radio repeater to determine how large of a coverage area they can get from the specific location. The day exercise will lead to the closure of the Nounou mountain trail shelter in the Nounou Forest Reserve.
- 09/02/14 – DLNR Hosts National Meeting In West Maui To Address Coral Reef IssuesHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will host attendees of the 32nd United States Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF) meeting in Ka‘anapali, Maui, from Sept. 8 to 12, 2014. Participants will discuss key national issues, propose new actions, and present the latest progress in the effort to protect, restore, and sustainably use coral reef ecosystems.
- 08/29/14 – Makiki Valley Trail Closed Weekdays For Hazard Rock MitigationHONOLULU -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources has closed a portion of the Makiki Valley hiking trail during weekday hours for approximately three weeks to carry out work to mitigate rock hazards exposed by a landslide in early July.
- 08/29/14 – Repairs To Begin At Keauhou Small Boat Harbor On Remaining Tsunami DamageKAILUA-KONA, HAWAII –The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) on Wednesday, Sept. 3, will begin construction at Keauhou Small Boat Harbor on repairs to the last remaining areas damaged by the 2011 Japan tsunami.
- 08/29/14 – Central Maui Regional Sports Complex To Start ConstructionWAILUKU, Maui –The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) today issued a notice to proceed for construction of the first phase of the Central Maui Regional Sports Complex project. Construction will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 2015.
- 08/29/14 – O‘ahu State Park Hours Return To Fall-Winter ScheduleHONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) announces that eight Oʻahu state parks will resume fall-winter park hours the day after Labor Day, Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2013. Parks will be open from 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. daily, and signage reflecting the change will be posted.
