- 03/27/14 – 200,000th Collector Sea Urchin Planted to Protect Kaneohe Bay Native Hawaiian Species Protects Coral Reefs from Invasive SeaweedsHONOLULU –Another milestone was reached today, as teams from the Anuenue Fisheries Research Center (AFRC), a facility of the state’s Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), planted the 200,000th juvenile sea urchin in Oahu’s Kaneohe Bay. Over the past three years, AFRC has successfully spawned and raised collector urchins in captivity with the express purpose of releasing them in the bay as part of an ecosystem-based management plan and for environmental mitigation work.
- 03/25/14 – Honolulu Fisherman Fined $250 for Throw Net ViolationHONOLULU –A state Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) officer cited a fisherman for using a throw net with mesh of less than two inches in waters off Aina Haina on Feb. 5. The officer spotted the man fishing with a throw net from shore while on routine patrol.

- 03/17/14 – Na Wai Eha Contested Case Hearing Postponed Until Further NoticeHONOLULU --- The Commission on Water Resource Management has postponed the Na Wai Eha contested case hearing on Instream Flow Standards until further notice to allow the parties to meet and discuss potential avenues of settlement. Therefore, the hearings scheduled on Maui for this and next week, have been cancelled.
- 03/14/14 – Mala Wharf Closing March 17 For Two-Month Repair ProjectWAILUKU – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will close the Mala boat launch ramp to public use for two months, starting Monday, March 17, to demolish and replace two existing concrete loading docks and make repairs to portions of the boat ramp. The project will cost approximately $1.1 million. The ramp is scheduled to be closed for 60 days, until May 16, 2014. Public meetings with boaters have been conducted which set this date for start of the repair project.
- 03/14/14 – Kula Forest Reserve And Waipoli Access Road To Be Closed For Repairs March 17 Through April 30KAHULUI – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife will close the Kula Forest Reserve and Waipoli Access Road from Monday, March 17, 2014, through Wednesday, April 30, 2014, to allow needed road repairs to be made to both the unpaved and paved sections of the road.
