DOBOR plans to reopen Mala Wharf and Boat Ramp to recreational vessel activity on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 6AM.  Mala will be reopened to limited commercial vessel activity on Monday, October 16, 2023: commercial vessel operations from Mala ramp will be allowed on weekdays only.  Commercial operators will also be required to shuttle their customers in and out of Mala to reduce traffic and the potential for visitors to travel through impacted areas.

DOBOR and the Department of Health are also warning ocean users that there may be health risks from exposure to contaminants in the waters near Mala Wharf, so users are advised not to enter the waters near Mala Wharf.  Because of this, shoreline commercial activity from Mala Wharf is prohibited until further notice.  Please be aware that while restroom facilities will be open, only non-potable water is available at this time.
