U.S. Coast Guard Issues Safety Alert for Sea-Doo Switch Pontoon Vessel

Posted on Oct 21, 2025 in Announcements

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has issued Safety Alert 18-25, regarding a capsizing hazard for the Sea-Doo Switch jet-driven pontoon vessel. A safety recall was issued for these vessels in February 2025. The USCG Safety Alert also provides recommendations to operators to minimize the risk of capsizing, including:

  • Avoid operating with any trim by the bow. Weight distribution must be towards the stern.
  • Avoid sudden changes in speed or direction at non-planing speeds.
  • If trim by the bow occurs, gradually reduce the throttle and reposition passengers further aft.
  • When approaching or coming off of a plane, exercise awareness of instability or nosediving.
