Get Involved

Community involvement is key to achieve our shared vision of healthy marine ecosystems with abundant resources. By working with others in your community, you can help inform the design of your island’s marine management strategies by identifying locally-important resources and providing ideas about what kind of management could work well for each area.

Your involvement will help determine the future use of Hawai‘i’s nearshore waters and its resources.

Attend a Talk Story session on Hawaiʻi Island

Holomua launches on Hawaiʻi Island in May! Hawai‘i Island residents are invited to attend one of seven Talk Story sessions in May where the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) will be seeking community input on how best to manage the island’s nearshore marine resources.

Hawaiʻi Island residents are encouraged to attend to help inform the process for Hawaiʻi Island from the beginning. Input on the team’s formation, organization, and representation, along with community priorities and shared visions, will be gathered during the Talk Story sessions.

To attend one of the upcoming meetings, interested persons are asked to RSVP at: https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/rsvp-for-holomua-talk-story/. Check out our dedicated Hawai‘i Island section and Hawai’i Island Talk Story Events page to learn more about each event and updates as the process begins.
