Mission Statement

The OCCL is responsible for overseeing approximately 2 million acres of private and public lands that lie within the State Land Use Conservation District. In addition, to privately and publicly zoned Conservation District lands, OCCL is responsible for overseeing beach and marine lands out to the seaward extent of the State’s jurisdiction.

Permit applications should be mailed to the Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands (OCCL), PO Box 621, Honolulu, HI, 96809.  Alternatively, they can be dropped off at OCCL’s office at the Kalanimoku Building, 1151 Punchbowl, Room 131, Honolulu, HI, 96813.

We are not currently set up to receive electronic submissions.

Job Openings

OCCL is currently recruiting for one Planner (either Planner IV or Planner V) and one Coastal Lands Specialist.   Information on the positions, as well as the applications, are found in the links.  We would encourage applicants to apply for both the IV and the V positions if they are not sure which level they would qualify as.

We are also looking to fill a temporary, 90-day Planner position, which has the possibility of being renewed.  Applications should fill out  Form HRD-278 and should submit them directly to our office.
