- 10/28/24 – STATEWIDE CELEBRATIONS FOR ARBOR DAY THIS WEEKEND(HONOLULU) – Arbor Day in Hawaiʻi is Nov. 2, a day to honor and celebrate trees where we live, work, learn and play. Communities across the state are hosting a variety of tree-focused events this Saturday with tree giveaways, educational booths, and volunteer tree plantings.
- 10/28/24 – COMMUNITY CLIMATE FAIR COMING TO KAUAʻI NOV. 2(LĪHUʻE) – Kauaʻi residents are encouraged to attend the Community Climate Fair on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kukui Grove Shopping Center in Līhuʻe. The Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC) and several partners are hosting the free, family friendly event that’s a first for the island.
- 10/28/24 – POST STORM CLEAN-UP OF ALA WAI SMALL BOAT HARBOR UNDERWAY(HONOLULU) – Crews with the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) started the seemingly endless task of cleaning storm debris from the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor.
- 10/28/24 – DON’T LET IT LOOSE CAMPAIGN PROVIDES AMNESTY FOR UNWANTED AQUARIUM CREATURES(HONOLULU) — Recent discoveries of illegal, non-native marine aquarium species spreading on Hawai‘i’s reefs have led to a new campaign to remind people, “Don’t Let it Loose.”
- 10/25/24 – NEW RFP FOR AXIS DEER CONTROL ON MAUI NUI(KAHULUI, MAUI) – Eligible private landowners and lessees of Maui Nui have the opportunity to participate in targeted axis deer control through the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) Landowner Incentive Program (LIP). The goal of this program is to incentivize Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi landowners to decrease the number of axis deer from the landscape.
- 10/25/24 – IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS CAUSE TEMPORARY CLOSURES TO STATE LANDS ON MAUI(KEʻANAE, MAUI) – Two upcoming improvement projects on Maui will cause temporary closures to state lands under the care of the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW).
- 10/21/24 – RENOVATIONS TEMPORARILY CLOSE NĀWILIWILI HARBOR OFFICE(LĪHUʻE, KAUA‘I) – The Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) office at Nāwiliwili Small Boat Harbor is currently undergoing renovations that will run through Nov. 7. The Nāwiliwili office will tentatively reopen at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.
- 10/11/24 – NEW VIDEOS EXPLORE CULTURAL PRACTICE WITH NATURAL RESOURCES(HONOLULU) – Our natural resources in Hawaiʻi are inextricably connected to the communities that rely upon and care for those resources. The “ʻIke Kaiāulu,” or “Community Knowledge,” video series, produced by education teams within the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) and Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), seeks to tap into an understanding of this rich history of caring for 'āina and kai.
- 10/11/24 – DLNR TRANSFERS 34 HAWAI‘I ISLAND LEASES AND REVOCABLE PERMITS TO DOA(HONOLULU) – At its meeting today, the state Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) approved transferring more than 7,000 acres of land on Hawai‘i Island from DLNR jurisdiction to the Hawai‘i Dept. of Agriculture (DOA).
- 10/11/24 – WAIMĀNALO HOMELESS SHELTER GETS NEW LEASE ON LIFE(HONOLULU) – Today, the state Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) agreed to set aside nearly 11 acres of DLNR land in Waimānalo for a kauhale housing project.
