(Kailua-Kona) – The 5th International Symposium on Anchialine Ecosystems is underway on Hawai‘i Island, where more than 125 scientists, students, community members, and resource managers, from across Hawai‘i and around the world, have gathered to share knowledge and information about anchialine pools. 

(Kahului) - More than 140 recreational fishers gave up four hours of their Friday night to talk story about marine management on Maui.

(HONOLULU) – A 51-year-old, female visitor, from France was the person involved in an encounter with a shark late Saturday afternoon in Pā'ia Bay on Maui’s north shore. 

(HONOLULU) – An apparent shark incident, this afternoon, at Pāʻia Bay on Maui’s north shore had prompted shark warning signs to go up from Baldwin Beach to Taveres Bay.

(KAILUA-KONA) – A panel discussion, during the 45th annual U.S. Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF) meeting, focused on the leadership Hawai‘i is showing the country and the world in the face of mounting challenges to conserve ocean resources. 

(Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park) – Today, eighty coral scientists, researchers, biologists, and managers from around the country received an up close and personal observation of the health of coral colonies in Kealakekua Bay, one of the most popular snorkel stops on the west side of Hawai‘i Island.

(KAILUA-KONA, HAWAIʻI ISLAND) – A collaboration of 13 federal agencies, seven U.S. states, territories, commonwealths, and three Freely Associated States comprise the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF). Task force members meet  twice a year. The USCRTF was established in 1998 by Executive Order to lead U.S. efforts to preserve and protect coral reef ecosystems across jurisdictions. 

(Hā‘ena, Kaua‘i) – During the administration of Gov. David Ige, three critical near-shore marine environments received additional protections, to sustain them well into the future.
